Fun learning

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

At Elephant and Castle Day Nursery we pride ourselves on our children taking part in fun filled learning experiences provided in a friendly and secure environment.

Tapestry

Tapestry is a secure online Learning Journal to record photos, observations and comments of children, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us. This system allows us to work with parents and carers to share information and record the children’s play and learning in and outside of the classroom.

Will I receive a copy of my child’s Learning Journal at the end of the year?

Yes, we will save your child’s Learning Journal on to a CD – Rom for you to keep at the end of the year, or we can email it to you in a PDF format.

We really hope that you enjoy using Tapestry and that it helps to keep you feeling informed about your child’s learning.  If you have any questions or problems using Tapestry then please let us know.

How does the EYFS work?

The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework was introduced to our nursery in September 2008.  The EYFS curriculum prescribes that children learn through quality play experiences, and a Practice Guidance Document helps staff to monitor and assess children’s progress and tailor a learning journey that best suits their own individual needs.

The EYFS comprises of 4 key principles:

1.A Unique Child  2.   Positive Relationships   3.Enabling environments   4.Learning and Development
