Louise Bromham
Deputy Manager
S.E.N.C.O in Training

”My name is Louise, I am the Deputy Manager at Elephant and Castle day nursery. I started at the nursery in 2004 as a student working as Nursery Assistant; the nursery helped me with doing different courses to develop my skills within the nursery. The nursery sent me on different training courses such as First aid, Food Safety, also I did my NVQ levels 2 and 3 in that time. I worked my way up as a Nursery Nurse then I was given the opportunity to be Team Leader for the 2 -3 year olds. I stayed with the nursery for 10 years, I left the nursery back in 2013 as I wanted to try different skills and the nursery was supportive of this. Last year I came back to Elephant and Castle day nursery, so far the nursery has given me the opportunity to become a Special educational Needs Coordinator (S.E.N.C.O) to help children with special needs and disabilities,or those who have English as a second language, so I am currently working towards completing the SEN Level 3 course” 26.04.2016.

I joined the Elephant and Castle nursery in 2011, as a practitioner. Since I joined I have been doing internal and external training. I received internal training on Food Hygiene. Externally I did First Aid, Safeguarding and Child Protection L1, recently I did training on Assessment and Planning for practitioners which has given me the knowledge of how to support each child’s learning and development, I am more confident now to work with children and their families. I am always informed of any changes in the EYFS by management so I am up to date; they update me on any new changes that occur in the setting. It is a pleasure for me to work at the Elephant and Castle Day Nursery”26.04.2016.
